MUSICA SACRA Bratislava 2007 International Choir Festival
May 23–27, 2007 BRATISLAVA, Slovakia

Dear choral music lover,
We would like to invite you to be part of the 2nd International Sacred Music Festival Musica Sacra Bratislava 2007 that is held in Bratislava on May23rd -27th, 2007. The Slovak capital Bratislava opens its gates and invite choirs to its charming center.
We are inviting music choirs from all over the world.
The festival will be held by the Bratislava Choral Agency, under the patronage of city Bratislava, under patronage of European Commision- Cabinet of Ján Fígeľ.
Choirs are eligible to join the festival either as non-competitive choirs participating in all the performances of the festival, or as competitive choirs.

Bratislava Choral agency have brought to Bratislava about 50 choirs from all over the world in year 2007, which was about 1500 singers.

The competition Musica Sacra
Competition Categories in Sacred Choir Music a cappella
Category A : Mixed, female’s and male’s vocal choirs, 6- 15 singers
Category B: Mixed, female’s and male’s chambers choirs, 16-23 singers
Category C: Female’s and male’s choirs, minimally 24 singers
Category D: Mixed choirs, minimally 24 singers
Category E1: Youth choirs up to 25 years of age {sopranos, altos}
Category E2: Youth choirs up to 25 years of age {sopranos, altos, tenors, bassos}

2 compositions a capella are compulsory, the other program can by accompanied with piano for following categories:
Category F: Children choirs up to 16 years of age
Category G1: Boys’ choirs {sopranos, altos, tenors, bassos}
Category G2: Boys’ choirs {sopranos, altos}

In categories E1, E2, F- minimal 75% of singers are required to be in that age.

Competition Repertoire
The following a cappella repertoire up to 15 minutes net is compulsory

Chorus from the period before 1600
Chorus from the period of Romanticism (19th Century)
Chorus of a composer born after 1920
Works of your own choice
Categories special
Category H: Polyphony: no category difference
Chorus from the period before 1600. Works of your own choice.
A cappella repertoire up 12minutes net.

Category I : Contemporary music - no category difference
Chorus of a composer born after 1920. Works of your own choice.
A cappella repertoire up 12minutes net

Category J: Spiritual, gospel - - no category difference
Works of your own choice.
A cappella repertoire up 12minutes net (no microphon)

Competition Rules
The competition is intended for amateur choirs
Each choir can sing in several categories but with different program
Competition program shall be sent in 6 copies of score and cannot be changed.
The choirs will not have possibility for acustic rehearsel
The total duration must not exceed 15 minutes and jury will stop longer entries.
In categories A, B, C, D, E1, E2, H, I, J all the pieces shall be performed a cappella.
In categories F, G1, G2 minimal 2 pieces must be a capella, the rest with piano
Deadline for sending application for the festival is February 1st, 2007

Participation Conditions
The competition will take place between May 23-27, 2007, in Bratislava.
Each choir including the conductor, accompanying persons and bus drivers shall pay its travel expenses, expenses on accommodation and food by itself.
The registration fee of a choir: 1 contest category makes 170 EUR, each next one contest category makes 110 EUR .
The given registration fee is not paid back in the case of cancellation of the application.

16th International Choir Competition of Sacred Music in Honor of Bishop Ján Vojtaššák'' - był w maju 2006. No i jest też w 2007 ------ [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] . Oczywiście noclegi płatne ale ceny tak jak w Polsce
